Jolly Phonics Activity books / Workbooks

Jolly Phonics - decodable reading books

Jolly Readers are interesting storybooks designed for children who are just ready to read. They will have learned all the letter sounds in Jolly Phonics, and be able to blend these sounds to read simple words (including words not seen before). There are three lively series (Inky Mouse and Friends, General Fiction and Nonfiction) covering a wide range of subjects.

The Read and See and Jolly Readers build on skills already learnt and develop understanding and confidence, encouraging children to read for pleasure.

Jolly Music

Jolly Music enables music to be taught in an effective and enjoyable way to primary school children, even by teachers with no musical experience. Based on the tried and tested principles of Hungarian composer and music educator Zoltán Kodály, the programme brings the best music teaching within the reach of every teacher and child.

Kodály's approach to music education is based on teaching, learning and understanding music through the experience of singing, without the demands of having to learn to play an instrument. This approach allows children to immediately participate in music making.

Through a repertoire based on playground rhymes and songs, children become aware of musical elements including pulse, rhythm, pitch, loudness and speed. Activities and games support multi-sensory learning and make the lessons fun. The lessons are carefully structured to build the key musical skills of listening, singing in tune, inner hearing, and ultimately reading and writing music. Taught in this way, classroom music will build children's motivation, enthusiasm and confidence, and lay the foundation for a lifetime of enjoyment.
